| Sarah Oelerich Owner and Head Trainer Horses have been in Sarah’s family for thirty-five years. Her father, Harry Oelerich, has had his hands in both breeding and racing thoroughbreds for over three decades. Sarah’s personal riding career began when she was very young, and at eight years old she was the youngest ever to receive a scholarship to ride with the Camargo Fox Hunt. Since that time, Sarah has trained and shown the hunter/jumper circuit under such renowned trainers as Mindy Darst, Michael Newman, and David Biesel. During this time Sarah qualified to ride at Harrisburg , Washington, and Capitol Challenge with her medium pony and junior hunter. She has worked extensively with Steven Duchac. The Miami Equestrian Team, and Bobby Dryer among others. In 2000, Sarah opened Honey Tree Stables on her father’s 160-acre plot in Oxford, Ohio. Honey Tree started as an 18-stall barn and has since developed into a 40-stall state-of-the-art facility complete with 100x200 indoor and outdoor arenas. However, the philosophy that inspired Honey Tree’s humble beginnings has remained the same throughout its growth: Sarah believes that complete and individual horse care, above all else, is priority and that developing a relationship between horse and rider is key in assuring long-term compatibility and continued learning. Sarah prides herself on being able to match horse and rider and creating a team that is both competitive and fun. She believes that respect is essential in creating the type of relationship necessary to be genuine “dance partners” at home and in the show ring. She believes that horsemanship is key and that it is imperative to teach each rider how to attain confidence when mounted and maintain calm assertive energy whenever around the horse. In the event that a horse has behavioral problems, Sarah is excited about the challenge and readily takes to solving such problems, boasting impressive results. Sarah never loses sight of furthering her career and believes she is always learning. She regularly campaigns her own horses as well as client sale horses and is currently looking for her winning “dance partner” in a Mini Prix or Grand Prix in the near future! Contact Sarah Oelerich |
